Doggy is 4!

My son Asa was given a toy dog when he was born, it was one of those that has beans inside so one can heat it in the microwave. I am not sure why, but Doggy has become Asa's best friend and he goes to bed with him and his ruggy every night.

The beans have long been thrown away after Mummy was distracted and burnt them in the microwave, Doggy however is still going strong.

Asa asked the other day why we have not ever celebrated Doggy's Birthday? I had no answer. A little tea party for Doggy was planned and I think he had a great time, and I am sure he loves his new soldier collar

My original "Doggy" our little Quill, gosh he's going grey, love him so much x

A shed idea x

We have a very long garden with a woodland at the end. When we moved in 7 years ago there was an old building at the end of the garden by the woodland which we demolished - cue land slide - cue hubby building a huge bank holding wall. We now have a yard which my husband uses to store his truck and next to the yard is a seasoned shed.

We were talking last evening about my business and what space I would like to work in the future. Well I now have first dibs on that old shed and yard. I have been dreaming all day of what space I could create: big windows, big oak surfaces for teaching baking, a crafting space, a mini car park, maybe a little studio? Oh so many ideas.

Now just need to earn some money to pay for all of this xx

Some photos for inspiration

My little boys birthday party xx

Jasper is my littlest boy, he is a year and a half younger than Asa. He is so like me in many ways, from his feisty nature to his good heart, his short temper to his flat bottom, his lips and his chin, all me and now him. We do adore him and wanted his third birthday to be really special. I think that when a child gets to three they completely understand that it is their special day and so it's much more about what they like and enjoy rather than us as his parents!

My friends son R and Jasper are pretty much 1 year apart in age so a joint party was put in the diary and plans started to be made. I found a fabulous tutorial online on a blog I follow called lovely design as we wanted to do something a bit different to the usual party bags. We both made our own, here are mine:

Laura (R's mummy) found the most adorable photo of animals with hats on so we took that idea and decided to go with it in a new direction. She says in her blog "putting hats on toy animals makes them 1000 cuter" this is so true.

There is a little meadow near where I live which was developed by the local residents, all we needed was good weather, lovely food, throw some  children in and we had a party! We decided on bunting for decoration, parse the parcel with home made play dough for the prize and, Laura brought her parachute which I have never seen used before with children and only vaguely remember as a child, well you should have seen her, completely in her element, she was amazing with all the children and parents

I run a small business which amongst other baking things runs children's cupcake decorating parties, it was great to have a completely different way of doing the traditional party bags and I think I now need a bit of creative thinking so I can start to offer these kind of things to my clients.

I hope you enjoy the photos

Party prep with Laura and her famous number biscuits x

My "kite bunting" Asa gave me the idea for this and I love it. If you would like to know how to make it please ask me

Happy 3rd Birthday Jasper. Mummy, Daddy and Asa love you so very much

Animals on cupcakes?

We've been celebrating my little boy Jasper's birthday this last week, it was his birthday last Sunday and we then had a joint party organised with his friend R who is the son of steady eye brows from the nimble fingers and steady eyebrows blog, check it out

http://nimblefingersandsteadyeyebrows.blogspot.co.uk/

In preparation for Sundays party the boys and I made chocolate cupcakes......recipe at the bottom

Asa (4) did all the stirring with a little help from my Kitchen Aid.

Jasper was very happy scrunching up all the used eggs shells

Beautiful mountains of organic flour + green and blacks cocoa powder

Distraction was needed while I put the mixture into the cases, today it came in the shape of a cow and chicken. Yum Yum xx

Here they are all piped and finished ready for the birthday party. Keep an eye out for my next blog for all the party goings on xx

Recipe:

80g butter or stork. I use stork as it helps the cupcake rise more evenly
160g golden caster sugar
2 free range eggs
150 ml semi or full fat milk
1tsp white wine vinegar 110g self raising flour (I use either own brand organic or McDougalls"00" )
40g green&blacks cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder

Mix the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy
Add the eggs one at a time
Pour in the milk and mix
Add the vinegars and mix until thew mixture splits
Sieve the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder and mix

Pour into your cases 3/4 full and bake at 180c for 19 minutes. Done xx

Alone xx

My man Mr T-C is working today so I have the boys all by myself, not a big deal it may seem as I look after them by myself every week however being alone on a Saturday feels strange

On top of this my car is broken, so we are back on our bikes!

We live in Wotton Under Edge and the town on a Saturday is lovely, farmers market, the arc for tea and 1p sweets, flowers, and today I feel the boys defiantly need a hair cut.....well just a trim

I hope you enjoy your weekend, even if you are alone

Once a day rainbow

I love so many things about being a mumma to my two boys, they do drive me round the bend and sometimes I just feel like I am never coping, however at the moment I seem to be meeting both their needs and we are rubbing along together and enjoying each other's company.

One of the many parts of children I love and appreciate so much is that they see the world in a fresh way and make me notice things in the world that would have passed me by. For example a tractor can now no longer drive past our cottage without me shouting for them to come and see it, I can no longer see an interesting bug or animal without telling them and even when I am alone (which is normally in the city) I want to show them interesting things I see. (An actual real life sheep ((children's speak)) outside of IKEA on a lead, a dog sat on a child's car seat strapped in being driven in a V flash BMW and the beautiful Bristol Eye)

We have breakfast every morning about 8am and a few days ago the boys noticed a small shaft of light coming from our fish tank onto the kitchen wall, it is a small mixture of colurs coming through the glass. They have named it "once a day rainbow" it comes every morning for only about 10 minutes but they appreciate that special fleeting moment.

We had some fun capturing the beauty of it in their faces, oh my darling pixie boys x

As soon as I took this I said I thought Ace looked like a Pixie, he gets me to now say this over and over.
