I use golden caster sugar as I feel the taste is better, I also get my vanilla pods from the local health food shop, they are 55p each rather than the £2.99 for 2 at most supermarkets! I bring to the boil for 10 mins and then use one of my prised bits if kitcten equipment, the jam funnel (thanks for the tip Nigella)
Any old glass jars you have will do, I seem to have hundreds in the shed now, much to Barry's annoyance
